Chateau du Grand Jardin a Joinville

The Chateau du Grand Jardin

Claude de Lorraine, First Duke of Guise and husband of Antoinette de Bourbon had the Château du Grand Jardin (the Château with the large garden) built around 1540 in the renaissance style.

According to legend, for forgiveness for his extra-marital escapades, he had the château built for his wife Antoinette de Bourbon.

Today a cultural center, it hosts exhibitions, concerts and events.

Since 1990, it has rediscovered its “Renaissance” gardens: ornamental flowerbeds, aromatic squares and bouquetiers, and its romantic park.
